Kara

Kara came to us together with her mommy. She was born in a yard and grew up there until her presence was revealed. That was the moment when both mother and daughter were threatened: it you don’t leave by yourself, we will make you leave!

After many negotiations, they were allowed to stay in that yard until they were vaccinated – the shelter was very crowded at that time, too. But they were only allowed to stay there, nothing more: no food, not a kind word, not the slightest sign of affection, nothing. One of our volunteers took them a box where they found shelter and fed them every day…

The most important thing is they got away from there: they came to us very scared and disappointed in people. We couldn’t get close to them, though we had tried countless times. in time, the mom – Arina, started trusting people and became a sweet cat. She was even adopted quite a while ago! For Kara, it appears that the wounds were too deep though. She continues to be shy, running away from us and hiding. Even if we are approaching very slowly the basket or the shelf where she is sitting, without any intention of touching her whatsoever, she gets scared and runs away, her eyes expressing nothing but horror. Any extra step we make in her direction is useless, for her it’s just stress, just another reason to be afraid of us. So we have no other choice but to wait …

She is an extremely beautiful cat, but still needs more time. How much? We have no idea. It’s been already over 5 years, she grew up with us but she’s still “invisible”… We try to empathize with her the best way we can, but as we were never driven away, we won’t be able to fully understand what it means to be hated just for being born, even if you’re just a kitten… What we can do, however, is to love and accept her as she is: our beautiful and shy Kara!
